  2. Olbermann on January 1st, 2008 10:33 am

    Jim is a bigger idiot.

  3. Timothy Massey on January 1st, 2008 10:33 am

Mr. Giuliani stated that “The Democrats do not understand the full nature and scope of the terrorist war against us”. Do the Republicans understand it more because they had a hand in the planning and execution of the events that brought it about? It’s hard to think of what happened and then to not ask that question.

  4. Bob on January 1st, 2008 10:36 am

    Jim likes little boys

  5. Sharon on January 1st, 2008 10:38 am

It’s pretty clear that the Dem’s are a bunch of whimps and pussies on terrorism and national defense. I agree that Rudy shouldn’t point it out, it’s already obvious.

    Sharon

  6. John on January 1st, 2008 10:39 am

Jim, you are an idiot if you think what Olbermann saying is wrong. It’s people like you that are making this country the most hated nation on the planet.

  7. Timothy Massey on January 1st, 2008 10:39 am

Let us not allow this to degrade into a juvenile name-calling contest. The country is at stake. I’ll forgive Olbermann, as he was acting in self-defense.

  8. Ferret Wrangler on January 1st, 2008 10:41 am

The ferrets approve of Keith Olbermann.

  9. TZ on January 1st, 2008 10:43 am

“Dem’s are a bunch of whimps and pussies” Way to go Sharon. Name calling proves your point every time, especially if you can’t make a logical reasoned argument.

  10. Nick on January 1st, 2008 10:45 am

    Jim is an idiot

The fact that there are people that have any regard for Giuliani is scary

  11. Elwood on January 1st, 2008 10:47 am

Olbermann never fails to impress. He’s right you know, and he’s hit it on the head. What Guiliani did was terrorism. Pure and simple. It seems that it only takes a few years to convince a portion of the population that the word terrorism means something that it does not.

Don’t let anyone scare you into doing anything.

  12. Kelly on January 1st, 2008 10:49 am

    Brilliant. Simply brilliant.

  13. shortlink on January 1st, 2008 10:57 am

Jim seems to be the only one here with a whole brain. I guess being a liberal means you bang your head in obedience on the floor when your diatribe speaker comes online. Looks like all that head banging has really damaged your thinking.

  14. Anonymous on January 1st, 2008 10:57 am

Keith’s righteous indignation is getting old.

If he says “How dare you!” in that low, gravely voice one more time I’m seriously going to flip.

Rudy is toast anyways. No use wasting time or energy on him.

  15. Timothy Massey on January 1st, 2008 11:01 am

To the contrary, I think that the indignation of this whole country should be on display, in defiance of the way that we’re being treated.

  16. rory on January 1st, 2008 11:14 am

I love how republicans get so mad but have no facts.

    “you democrats are… um…. pussies… yeah”

olberman is an ass but giuliani deserved every last bit of it.

  24. Brandon on January 1st, 2008 11:34 am

The simple fact of the matter, the case in point if you will is solely this… It is never justifiable, it is never acceptable, it is never forgivable to campaign with fear in the place of reason. It has never been, is not, and will never be right, morally or otherwise, to attempt to use the fear and complacency of the American people against them in an election of any sort where you are responsible for representing those that elect you. That idealism undermines the very essence of what democracy stands for. While I’m sure many of would agree systems like socialism or communism work better, technically, we still are a democratic society, at least we say we are. To threaten the American people, to slander the competition, to undermine the very system of government who’s very presidency you campaign for is in no way logical, justifiable, or right morally or otherwise. There is absolutely no defense for his words correct or not, he is no seer and there is very little evidence to support the propaganda spewing from the mayor’s mouth. It is the job of the American people to decide who is right, who is competently. To try and take that away from them by campaigning on a premise that makes those very assumptions for them is sicking in the eyes of even the most positive and appallingly abysmal in the eyes of even the slightest of cynics among us. If you stand up as a candidate for public office and can speak only of the failures and faults of your opponent one can only assume you have no qualifications, no respectable traits, nothing that could convince us of your decency within you and that you are left with nothing but the slandering of your opponent in the hopes that we simply view you as the lesser of the evils in a contest for power. I am sick of having to vote as if I was making a choice between almost certain death, and certain death. I am sick of being made to feel as if each election is simply a lesser of the evils choice to be made. Have we not one decent American. Have we not one person who is willing to get up on stage walk to their podium and speak only about them selves and why they are the best individual for the job? Have we no human beings left in this country.

Not only are you so weak as to have been indoctrinated by mere media broadcastings into believing blindly everything you hear that is negative but your disgusting display of immaturity and vulgarity is never going to convince anyone you are anything but a poor excuse for an American citizen, Whether or not I believe you about your claims on the part of Fox News is irrelevant. You chose the worst way imaginable to represent your self and thus have failed in doing anything but embarrassing your self in public discourse.

  26. Eon Pul on January 1st, 2008 11:46 am

It is simple. Candidates on both sites, rep or dem, are fools, barring Ron Paul. Olbermann loves to rant anti-republican, and subtly tell us all to vote democratic, but he is as wrong about the democrats as he is right about the republicans. Both are fools. Don’t vote for the lesser of two evils. Learn about Ron Paul’s stance on freedom and liberty, and watch a man who runs without pandering or fear-mongering.

  27. Canadian on January 1st, 2008 11:47 am

As an outside observer to your country’s political misfortune I must say that this Rant appears to be correct.

TW seems to think that the mayor of a huge city isn’t responsible for protecting that city from incoming jets and of course on one level he is correct but on so many he is so obviously wrong. The Mayor has powers over the emergency responce right? Rudy fucked up the preparation then ran around barking orders on the day and claimed victory. Think about it what would have been seen as a defeat there? no matter how good or bad he did that day he just had to claim victory and what would he be judged against? (similar to the way you Americans treat the war of 1812, you attack, we counterattack and burn down your whitehouse, you counter-counter-attack and regain the ground you lost in our counter attack… you claim victory? when you attack someone and end up with the same thing you started with you’ve lost…)

If Rudy had emergency responce in place the toll of 911 would have been much much lower but that can never be proved becaue 911 only happened once. Now think about how many people died in 911 compared to say automobile accidents and you’ll realize that abandoning the “War on Terror” taking reasonable precautions (like the ones Rudy should have) against terror and putting more money into something like automotive safety regulations will in fact lower casualties.

  28. Allen on January 1st, 2008 12:05 pm

I just can’t figure out if Olberman is some kind of functional psychotic, or just stupid. I’m suspecting it is a mixture of both.
Ken Olberman is hurting america with his ever insane partisan rants, which he isn’t even qualified to stand behind.
Always remember he is just a news reader, shrill speechmaker, and probably a little crazy. Nothing more.

  31. J on January 1st, 2008 12:18 pm

    @Allen:

You kids make me laugh. You don’t really have anything legitimate to say about Olbermann so you call him shrill. Do you know what shrill means?

  32. Sean on January 1st, 2008 12:39 pm

The problem is that people do not want to believe what they are hearing. They don’t want to believe that the ones who truly hate our freedom are the ones slowly taking it away.

  33. Dr Az on January 1st, 2008 12:43 pm

Though I’ve distanced myself from politics, I do like to hear Olbermann get, for the most part, facts in a line and nail a bunch of points in order. It can be impressive. He does editorialize, but anyone with the ability to critically think and who has like experiences to shade those thoughts are going to be editorializing to some degree. He has a platform and uses it; No different from his Right leaning counterparts (and not nearly as shrill and unqualified as O’Reilly and Limbaugh) though there are other Righties who are veracious in speaking as well.

Anyway, I’ll once again take full advantage of my right to abstain from voting. I’ll not take any part of shoeing in one of these “representatives” of our less and less representative democracy. Those that have the desire to run for president are the ones lacking the ability to do the job. Or something like that.

Oh, I also wonder what will happen when Ron Paul get about 3-4% of the vote? After the moronic “conspiracy” talk dies down, hopefully those supporters will go back underground. Some of his ideas are intriguing, but even if elected he would have zero authority to “abolish the federal reserve” because it would never pass. I like the idea, but that gu and these rabid followers are political lunatics.

  34. Logic on January 1st, 2008 12:47 pm

And Democrats don’t use similiar doom & gloom nonsense when it comes to voting for a republican? Olbermann is a jackass, I’ll take him seriously if I see this same kind of response to Hillary the next time she starts spewing nonsense about what will happen if you vote for a Republican. It’s politics, it is what both parties do.

Lastly, can a Mayor REALLY be prepared to stop jets from flying into buildings? Since when does NYC have it’s own Air Force?

  35. Dr Az on January 1st, 2008 12:55 pm

Maybe point was that there was already an attack on the WTC and the emergency response was not what one would think it would be in one of the largest cities on Earth that had previously been attacked at the same very place? And to look at it yet another way… if he had no power to prevent it; how can he claim experience in fighting it? Works both ways, doesn’t it?

  36. Estebe Verde on January 1st, 2008 12:57 pm

Oberman is a true patriot cast in the same mold as our Founding Fathers.

  40. Terry Walsh on January 1st, 2008 1:19 pm

Many thanks to Keith Olbermann for continually bringing to light details about the most corrupt administration in the history of the United States.

Anyone who has half a brain would understand and do something about what is going on with our nation. Its being seized slowly, and this next election is going to be an extremely important part of our nations history. Will we continue to be sheep? As a New Yorker I wonder what would someone else, more honest than Rudy, do different than what Rudy did on 9/11? He/She probable would have done as good or better as Rudy did but He/She would not have used 9/11 to get rich and use it for his political interest.
The Biggest Fear Is Fear Itself

  48. Tom on January 1st, 2008 2:06 pm

Why Rudy Giuliani is still a front runner today makes no sense. He is obviously powered by the same terrorism propaganda engine that puts out these ridiculous Osama Bin Laden videos, spreading fear to this nation of sheep out there. Rudy needs his ass handed to him and disappear from the face of history. Kudos to Olberman in pointing these out in the public media.

  49. Chris on January 1st, 2008 2:26 pm

I think Olberman just likes big words. :D

Guiliani is under the false impression that war loses less lives than peace. Hmm… how many thousand have we lost in iraq? and how many over the last 231 years here in our United States (outside wartime?)?

  50. Jimbo on January 1st, 2008 2:32 pm

  51. lorrl on January 1st, 2008 2:38 pm

hi. everyone here has some things to say, some of them cogent, others not so. either way whomever you vote for in this next election its just a beauty pageant. nothing will change and we will be further and further down the road to fascist oligarch control of the country, (as if that isn’t already true). Olbermann may rant, but so does every other talking head on the idiot box. so. i am not going to judge any of you people, as much fun as it may be to be a name-calling little bitch. so, the next time you feel like getting mad or upset about how high gas prices are or the fact that you didn’t get your Wii for christmas or any other little bullshit luxury that you take for granted i urge you to just put a bullet in your head so you wont have to whine anymore. i for one try my damndest to help others, regardless of their political leaning. so if you want to make some sort of snide comment about me and how i seem like some soft headed lefty go fuck yourself, your mother, your grandmother, all your male cousins and your little dog too. god i love that 1st amendment! See “terrorism” in your favourite dictionary. Or perhaps “counterterrorism” if it’s a fat one. Don’t spend too long looking for references to jets; they’re not there.

If you’re still confused, look up the 1993 WTC bombings – same place, but no jets there, either.

Seeing a pattern here? No? Let me help you: terrorism ≠ “jets go crashy crashy”.

Well I can pretty much say that American politics is starting to really scare me . The front runner on both sides of the coin ( Guliani is considered the front runner right? I haven’t seen Republican poll data in a long time…) both have pretty fatal flaws and are doing/saying pretty much anything to win candicacy from thier party. As a Canadian I’ve started to complain alot about politics in my country but at least for now our politics are much more sane and do not have such large ramifications on my personal rights and the state of the world…. So to my American “nieghbours” , DO SOMETHING! I can’t believe that your country does not see anything very off with how politics are going….

And, lorrl. If you don’t like where this country is going, then either get up and do something about it or move. We need more people to get up and make their voices heard. Many people feel the same way as you do. We just need to band together. The reason Bush was elected for a second term is because of apathy. Apathy is the reason impeachment hearings haven’t moved forward. Apathy is why we are losing civil liberties. Stand up.

i keep wondering when the one person will stand up.
the one person that i can believe in. up until now, none of the candidates leave me with a sense of, “yes, this person is what is best for this country. yes, this person will give us back our liberties, will make this country stronger, will defend us, will look after all of us, will put their self second to us, will lead us into a time of peace and prosperity, will make this country the one place on earth where every view is respected and protected, where are liberties and privacies are respected.” i keep hoping that one day this person will arrive.

instead i am left with thinking that all of these candidates have hidden agendas, are self centered, are just the best of the worst.

WTF!! Liberals are a bunch of whimps and pussies? Is that because they think with their brains and not their dicks and muscles? Primate.

I like what I heard, and I’m sure the people who disagree with these facts are just saying so to push our buttons,

Nobody can be fooled by these corporate puppets, unless they have some personal investment in their campaign.

If I may, I will be the first to admit, that have never participated in this type of activity, much less responded to any such writings, on these comment blogs, but some of the writings on this blog, for the amount of intelligence the folks that are writing profess to have, with their highly opinionated ideas, need to to stick to the spoken word, as their writing has much to be desired, when folks like Brandon write words like sicking, in place of sickening, it leaves room for some contemplation, on whether what he is writing about is even worth reading. There are always at least 2 sides to every story, and the stories that always seem to make these type of blogs, are always written by the people, who know the least just seem to have a little more time on their hands, then most. To constructively criticize someone you need to sound more convincing, as far as being objective, being open minded, and allowing for some creditability to the person, that you are criticizing, so as to make the criticism sound more genuine. These aimless, useless, profound less shout-outs, seem like the rantings of a frustrated young individual, who for the most part, are full of criticism, and lacking in the social graces of actions to speak for them. It is this type of ranting that gives way to all of these media outlets, to be so successful. They tell you what to talk about, and you do, if there is any blame to give, whether it be Republican or Democrat, you should look to your decisions, on the steps you take to make a difference, don’t be another news corespondent, trying to get a rise out of folks on the subjects they feel are important, due to their supposedly unbiased surveys, they claim to have taken. We have enough of these folks, as we have created a multichannel monster full of button pushing individuals, who take no blame for anything, in the name of speaking the truth and ride on the very fabric, of fairness, justice, and freedom, that this country provides and use it to the extreme degree of bordering slander, and the provocation of the very news they report. Do your own research, make your own decisions based on what you see, as the best thing, then run for office, propose law, or better yet just vote your conscience, and sleep better knowing you did your part. The slamming of great leaders, like Rudy Giuliani, or the like, is not only disrespectful, but unproductive, and it only adds to the adage, that states, the masses will lead, as we have been lead, so if no one changes, then it will not matter, who you put in office, because nothing will change, as the congress majority changed, but nothing happened, because they themselves did not change, to accept leadership. With leadership come great responsibility, and that responsibility sometimes means, that you must work with the powers that be, to allow the wheels of good solid progress to turn. If you noticed I did not say the right progress, I just said good, because at this stage, it is the least we can expect, and in some cases the most, we will be able to achieve. Good luck on your writings Brandon.

If what Keith says is not true, why does not someone address the facts and not the assertion that Keith is crazy? Keith has the courage to address the truth, even if all of us do sometimes bias the truth with our beliefs. Keith is a rare and unusual journalist, a man out of his time; Keith is not the sort of milk-toast journalist that we listen to the rest of the time. Keith sees the truth that this war is a horrible crime and the guts to call the leaders who have brought this on us criminals. Keep it up, Keith; expose the crooks as they are.

There’s a world of difference between ranting against the military and what people consider an unjust war.

In order to field a military, must America have a war?

Somewhere in those two questions is a position that respects civil liberties and civil responsibilities – and the use that politicians make of their favoritism of the military, or lack of it, in order to fund the military industrial complex.

As a form of waffling, nothing has been made more clear in history than America’s love/hate relationship with its military.

I watch all the diff news channels and saw interviews (The whole interview) with various people who Olberman hates, then saw on MSNBC where Olberman took parts an pieces from these interviews and made the people look like idiots. Now if u only watch his show and nothing else then you would believe what you saw. I have seen him do this three diff times. The guy should not have a show because he is a TOTAL LIAR!!!!. No wonder MSNBC is the lowest rated Cable news, they should change the name to MSLSD!!!
