Nice quote from Sessions. The only problem is, you're lying. You did NOT hear Sessions say that on CSPAN2 because he never said it. (Forget catching it on YTube for the same reason).

Going out somewhere with friends is just as much lot of fun, as coming to this website. Always has something to laugh at, a lot of things to share with each other, and it’s much easier to make friends here, than anyone would think! I come to this website when I have problems, and always leave it in a good mood. It really helps a lot!

I'll Preface My statment By saying that I re-enlisted in the National Guard the day after 911, Having said that The Measures taken after 911 were done for the protection of this nation, it's people it's Freedoms it's values, Property and it's Constitution. Anything that was done was done for those reasons. I Am very aware that people complain that " Their civil liberties have somehow been diminished. I disagree withthat statment. That is unless you are a person who intends to do harm to the united states or it's people. If The Security Agencies of the United States feels it is in the Best intrest of our Nation to wire tap a few phone lines or listen a little closer and watch a little more intensly So Be It! I'm not into anything crooked or underhanded so what do I have to fear? Nothing. I certainly feel better knowing that the Men and Women charged with protection and intelligence gathering will do anything nessacary to Protect My Family and Our way of life here in the United States. We are not fighting a traditional enemy. We are in fact fighting an enemy like we have not encountered in past conflicts. They are not a nation and they have no home base or battle lines. They do not attack with any sense of Honor. They attack non combatants women, children, and even people of their own " religion" if you choose to call it that. It's a perversion of a religion. SO.... What we have is an enemy that fights with no rules no reguard for anyone including their own people and certainly no Honor.. How do you fight these subhumans. I'll tell you.. By any means nessacary.I Know your arguments will be that the Government is taking away our Freedom.. Well No it actually isn't. They are protecting your freedom and your butt as well. The American People Don;t need to know everything that goes on in the government. there are some things that Have to bee secret. As a soldier I have gone on many missions with very little knowledge of the " Big picture, I worked on a need to know basis. I got the information I needed to complete my mission and protect myself and that is all. and that is how it should be.The More information is out there the more information Our enemies have to use against us folks. SO I tell you the truth, Your rights are safe, Your Butt is safe and the Constitution is safe as long as you have people in office that can recognize our enemies for what and who they are and have the Courage to stand up and say No More!

Senator Sessions appears to have edited the Congressional Record. This is what is in the CR (p. S15724) after editing --

In reference to some of the restrictions on the CIA legislated before 9/11, Senator Sessions said: "Many Members of this body were warned when they were made the law of the United States, they were warned then that if we did these things it was not wise. But, oh no, the others loved the Constitution more, they loved liberty more, so these unwise laws were passed. And what happened afterwards, after 9/11? Well, we properly removed both of those silly rules. We have taken them off the books, in a bipartisan, unanimous way. They were never required by the Constitution. They were never sensible from the beginning. But we passed them on emotion not reason."

The section "the others loved the Constitution more, they loved liberty more" sounds like Sessions rejects the love of liberty and the Constitution. The section "They were never required by the Constitution" indicates that he just has a different opinion about what the Constitution says.

I still think his opinion about what the Constitution requires indicates a scanty reading of the document. There is, however, a difference between opposing the Constitution and having an opposing opinion on what the Constitution says.

People can ruin America by not paying attention to what the politicians are doing in Congress.

But we shouldn't have to. Isn't that why we elect officials? Isn't that why we have a Representative Democracy as opposed to a True Democracy?

If people would take more time researching who to elect as opposed to listening to the mud slinging, we'd probably be better off.

[...] This Senator’s Words Should Shock the American Conscience (Unamerican Revolution) [Monday] morning I watched CSPAN2 to listen in on Congress as it discussed the issue of warrant-less wiretapping. Senators are intent on overhauling the outdated FISA legislation… As the debate on cloture unfolded, I was shocked at one statement in particular! Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama said in a derogatory tone: “The civil libertarians among us would rather defend the constitution than protect our nation’s security.” [Emphasis added.] Indeed, we would, Senator. There is no long-term security if the government can spy on anyone at will.
You people are just as bad as the people you are criticizing. The FIRST comment in response to this article should have been "please indicate the committee in which Sessions made this statement." THEN everyone could begin discussing what a tool he is. If we want to have higher standards for our politicians, then we need to start to have higher standards for ourselves, and one of those ought to be that we establish with certainty when and where something occurred and back it up with specifics, otherwise it's just another partisan anecdote.

Unfortuntely ,this is my Senator, however, I just sent a letter calling for his resignation, informing him that this quote and the oath of office will be in a full page add in every paper in the state that will publish it if it is not done so. Hopefully, it is enough to get his attention and get him out of office.
